The old Quonset Hut was torn down to make way for a new updated facility that offers outdoor enthusiasts the ability to park, picnic, and enjoy the scenery. The Division of Fish and Wildlife also still requires a portion of harvested deer to be inspected and measured by State biologists and therefore, hunters are required during the first 4-days of the muzzleloader deer season to check, weigh and measure their deer at an Official State Deer Checking Station. This Deer Check Station at Arcadia Management Area serves as a designated canoe launch area as well.
About the Client
Arcadia Management Area covers roughly 14,000 acres of Rhode Island woodland, and meandering through the middle of it is the Wood River. Small tributaries such as the Flat River, Breakheart Brook, Paris Brook, and the Falls River feed in to make up the Wood River, Rhode Island’s crown jewel of trout fishing.
